There will be an auction at the Adams house in Parkersburg on Thursday, September 7, 2023, starting at 10 am. This iconic two and a half story landmark adjacent to City Park was built in the 1920’s by Dr. Charles Adams and has been occupied by his family until the death of his youngest daughter, Florence who lived to be 90 years old. Contents of the entire home and yard will be sold at the auction.

Dr. Charles Adams graduated from dental school in 1916. He and his son were well known dentists in Parkersburg for many years, and Items from his son’s estate will be brought to the Park Avenue location to be included in the auction. Along with various ca 1950’s items related to dentistry, one of the distinctive items for sale is a large 3-section, 4-door, 26-drawer original oak dental cabinet.
Florence Adams graduated with a bachelor’s degree and a Certificate of Piano from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and went on to get a master’s degree in Rochester, NY. She then attended Julliard School of Music in NYC. She taught music at local colleges until her retirement. She was the original owner of a 1970 Model L Steinway Grand piano which will be included in the auction. The piano will be inside the home and will only be available to see by appointment or with permission on the day of the sale. Call Randy Clark at 740-706-0417 to schedule an appointment. In preparation for the sale, the piano was tuned by a certified Steinway piano technician in July 2023, who stated this was the finest Steinway he has seen. There are numerous other small instruments included in the sale.
Other items to be included in the contents of the house are furniture and antiques prior to the 1920’s.
